Flex and rigid-flex remove connectors, save weight and survive motion that would crack a rigid board. We build both, and assemble them on the same line as your rigid boards.

Design rules that matter
- Keep bends in the flex regionAvoid plated through-holes and rigid features inside the bend area.
- Use hatched or thieving copperReduces stress and improves flexibility in dynamic applications.
- Stagger conductorsWider spacing at bend lines reduces concentrated stress.
- Define the bend axisAdd a fabrication note so the stiffener and coverlay are placed correctly.
- Anchor padsUse tear-relief and anchoring so pads do not lift during bending.
Assembly and test
Rigid-flex boards are assembled with fixtures that support the flexible region. We can add stiffeners for connector insertion, perform flex-cycle testing on request and inspect the finished assembly under magnification. For dynamic applications, define the expected bend radius and cycle count in the design record.
Rigid-flex quotes depend on the stack-up. Send the layer construction, bend region and stiffener requirements — not just the Gerber — for an accurate price.
Frequently asked questions
Can you assemble flex boards with connectors?
Yes. We use support fixtures and specify stiffeners where the connector needs mechanical support.
What is the minimum bend radius?
As a rule, 6x the flex thickness for a static bend and 10x for a dynamic bend. Confirm the value for your construction in the DFM review.
Do you offer adhesive-based flex?
Yes, both adhesive-based and adhesiveless polyimide constructions are available.
